Strate Sound is located 20 minutes east of downtown San Diego. We are about five minutes north of interstate 8 and within close proximity to hotels and restaurants. We specializes in all styles of music recording, whether it be a 40 piece orchestra or a four piece rock 'n roll band, we offer you the professional quality and equipment to compliment all of your recording needs.

Control Room

Our control room looks out through a 15' x 8' window into the recording room. The control room is very large and comfortable, with two oversized couches.

We use a 42" Panasonic Plasma screen, great for viewing our Protools system throughout the entire room.

The control room itself is a '60's/'70's design and has a very vintage feel.

We also have extra viewing monitors to view the live room and our main lobby which also contains a large lounge area for clients to escape the long hours of the studio.

Live Room

Our main recording room is 40' x 40' with the floors and walls being a mixture of parkay, cedar and carpet . All of our slanted ceilings are 20' tall at their highest point. The room is live yet controlled, great for recording drums.

The main recording space is actually an exact replica of the famed Gold Star studio B that was located on Santa Monica Blvd. and Vine in the '60's and '70's ( made famous by the Phil Spector "Wall of Sound" sessions and The Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" recordings).

The room itself was built in the late '70's by previous owner of GoldStar, Dave Gold and was a private studio for many years until Strate Sound took residence. It's the only studio in San Diego of its kind.
